In your opinion, what is the coolest coin you can purchase for under $10? $5? For $1?

Obviously it's opinion but I wanted to see what you all thought. Maybe find a cool budget coin to look for!
What I collect: US, 3rd Reich Germany, Philippines, Ancients, Vatican City, North Korea.
Square holed Asian coins (like cash) from 100-300 years old are available for $1. I think if you had one coin to carry around for a buck most people would find that most intesting.
After that, there’s so many options for a five, who could narrow it down to one? Better get them all!
Taking a break from swapping for a while, but still interested in pre 1799 Spanish coins, I will make time for that!

Obviously it depends on your definition of cool, but you can get these coins for a few $:

Australia and New Zealand have many beautiful coins.
My own  type is probably this Netherlands coin: https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces2584.html
Some interwar Japanese types (1, 5, and 10 sen) are close in beauty. They don't come quite as cheap though... more like $1-2 than $0.5-1 :)

The Congo-Leopoldville 10 francs would've been on my want list if I had one, though - where are you getting this type for $5 or less?
IIRC, it's one of only two Congos that I'm still missing in my OFEC (the other one is the much rarer Congo Free State; I already have Belgian Congo, Congo-Kinshasa, Congo-Brazzaville and Zaire).

good taste, especially the Italian one, but I would call that more beautiful than cool.

Yes that one from the Netherlands is a beauty!
The Congo one is more like $10, here: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Kongo-Congo-10-Francs-1965-Leopoldville-VI/232291580290
Though as usual with sellers who sell several copies of the same item you don't see what condition the coin you're buying will be x.
There are also a couple on auction with reasonable shipping cost, they might end up fitting the $10 budget, but on principle I agree this could be more of a $10-$15 coin than a under-$10 coin.
