Hello there! I've found some pretty interesting stuff circulating in Illinois, what have other people been finding? I don't have much money so I constantly go to the bank and get rolls of pennies to search through. Cheap, fun, and I make some money selling the pre-82 US copper cents as bullion. I've found about 250 wheat cents, including 2 1909s and a 1916D (35m made I think). I've also found about 150 Canadian pennies which I collect just because. I've also found all of the unflipped coins in rolls, and the flipped coins were in pocket change. I have lots of Canadian nickels and quarters, but nothing special to picture. I don't think you want to see 250 wheat cents either.

I found this huge error (135º off centre) in pocket change two weeks ago ...
UK ten pence 1992 and both sides should be ↑↑ vertical. Today I got the second coin above in change - a 1995 Isle of Man twenty pence with a farm machine on it. Shame UK went decimal in 1971 as no longer any chance of finding silver coins in pocket change anymore. You are so lucky in Illinois

Hey don't you work at a Corner Bakery?
You're lucky to work at a register because you can always find silver change. Lucky for me I've found around 10-15 Wartime nickels from the bank but your luck doubles at the register.
I'm applying for a job at Trader Joe's and hopefully I'll get the job and hopefully I'll find some nice silver or foreign.

I've always wanted to find a rotated coin...

I spend forever trying to find pennies like that. I'm quite jelly.

And I like the shape of that Isle of Man coin, are they expensive to purchase? And yeah, I work at a Panera Bread, it's basically the same thing. I found the Indian penny and the 61 quarter there. Some other interesting stuff too. People often try to pay me with Candian nickels and eurocents, so I normally just accept the money and swap them with my pocket change before I put it in the drawer. I even accepted a Namco token, not knowing what it was lol. Hope you get the job, register work is really fun! I also gotta message you about your trip and find out how that went! Been super busy lately.

Citation: ZacUKThe reverse three lions design is correct for the year, as is the edge lettering. Except - it is a forgery; it is too weakly struck.

Another way to check if it's a forgery is if the lettering is crudely drawn. Actually I shouldn't be saying anything; I've never been to the UK before.

You are correct - crudely drawn is an indication; which is what I meant by weakly struck (the lettering and also both sides). Here are three coins for comparison - top is the forgery, second is a rare 1988, and lower is a better-struck 2009. So that last coin makes me think the Royal mint have changed their way of putting edge lettering on; maybe that also applies to the two pound coin as well; there are many on eBay where part letters are for sale, such as the edge letter of the Guy Fawkes coin REMEMBER REMEMBER THE FIFTH OF NOVEMBER where one or more R are poorly struck and look like a P letter.

I really need to find a way to let go of my coins... I'll try to find some to exchange. 2,500 more pennies to look through today.

Nice finds, who (or how) do you sell your bullion pennies to? and how much do you sell them for?
You really need to start swapping, its a lot of fun. Just buy some bulk coins to get started, and put an add on craigslist for buying world coins, that can be a pain though.
I am sure you can put some wheat's on your swap list
Taking a break from swapping for a while, but still interested in pre 1799 Spanish coins, I will make time for that!
Looking for pre 1783 coins

In stead of a 2 eurocent coin, I found a one cent USA 1951 in my change.

My brother got this in his change a few weeks back in Morrisons. I don't think it's actually legal tender, and if I remember correctly £2 coins only came back into circulation with a newer design later in the 90's in bi-metallic form; this is like the older stuff.. I want it from him but I won't pay more than the face value.

Just made my first Silver Quarter find in a roll... 1952. It's my third Canadian Silver Quarter but the first I have found! Was very cool.

Reviving
I search through tonnes of penny roles because as of February 4th the penny will officially be gone from circulation in Canada
I've found coins from the Bahamas, Bermuda, Taiwan; euros from Greece, France, and others.
I've found wheat pennies from late 30's early 40s, Canadian pennies from 1930s 40s 50s and 60s
Today I found a beautiful UNC red 1958 penny, wonder how it kept its condition for so long.
I've also found several varieties of Canadian pennies such as the 1965s, 2006s and I found a 2009 non-magnetic coin,1 out of over 400 other 2009 pennies I got.
There has been a strange lack of 2012 pennies for some reason... I'm talking an average of 2 out 500 pennies...

I used to find heaps when we had the large style coins. I used to find shillings, sixpences, florins in my change instead of 5, 10 and 20 cent coins, I used to find australian and fijian coins as well. But since we've switched to the reduced sized coins in 2006 I've found absolutely nothing other than normal coins. It sucks!!

Yeah here the mint has been aggressively taking out all coins older than 2003, especially for the nickels dimes and quarters. And now the pennies will be gone
Starting February 4th the only fun will be commemorative quarters

I have had no commemorative UK £2 coins for ages, now two come along at once in one day; and spookily they both have a design with hands. Still not seen any 2013 coins yet, including the £2 coins.
Olympic Handover (Beijing/London) 2008 and Florence Nightingale 2010, both in pocket change.

It's a blank with the edge rolled. It's called a planchet; it's a US quarter that did not get in the coin press

While on a vacation in Panama some years ago (2005 I think) I found a 1/10 balboa 1962 silver coin when buying my 1st beer of the trip. It was a great trip, for sure.

I get about a million and one special quarters in my change, and have found at least 2 2014 Sochi loonies thus far. (Not to mention a few commemorative nickels). When the Olympics were actually happening I swear the Canadian banks deliberately recirculated a ton of Olympics and other special quarters, because I found about a gazillion when I kept asking for things to be changed into quarters during that time. I still find them, just not quite as often (and not the same ones -- lately I've been finding a lot of old 1999/2000 quarters, or provincial quarters).
